Disappointed, angry, and heartbroken—these were the three most common emotions expressed by 2NE1 fans after Park Bom once again pulled out of a major event, this time the Waterbomb Busan 2025 festival held on July 26 at Dock 1, Busan Port. Her agency, D-Nation Entertainment, announced the cancellation barely 30 minutes before she was due on stage, citing health reasons.
As a result, 2NE1 performed with only three members—CL, Sandara Park, and Minzy. While their performance was still energetic and well-received, Bom’s absence was palpable. This festival had been billed as a nostalgic and celebratory reunion for Blackjack, the name for 2NE1’s dedicated fanbase.
What further fueled the fire was that this wasn’t the first time Park Bom had canceled at the last minute. Just last month, she also missed the Head in the Clouds Los Angeles 2025 festival without warning. Back then, D-Nation simply cited “personal reasons” without offering any further explanation. Two last-minute cancellations in under a month, both announced with similar vague statements, have caused many fans to run out of patience.
On social media, fans vented their frustration over what they called consistently slow and dishonest communication from D-Nation. A thread posted by the account @ParkBomBuzz on platform X captured the mood and drew multiple replies echoing the same sentiment.
@dnyw313: “And if she has her own anxiety issues, why do we have to force them to disclose her illness? We know she has medical conditions, so instead of dragging her/the company, just be thankful she’s trying her best to attend the performances 2NE1 has???”
@ParkBomBuzz: “We don’t want anything revealed. We don’t want them announcing stuff like this 30 minutes before the performance. We’d appreciate it if they were upfront and just announced she’s taking a break due to health reasons. Bom has been getting a lot of backlash.”
Source: Instagram @newharoobompark@sburke21124: “The problem is, as far as we know, it could be something like anxiety, which could hit at any time, like a panic attack. It was obvious she planned to be in LA (she was there) and then no show. I don’t think it’s physical.”
Meanwhile on Instagram, fans flooded Park Bom’s latest posts with comments expressing the same concerns: lack of transparency from her agency and Bom’s own silence, which many saw as dismissive of her fans.
@newharo: “It’s time to start a petition to find out what Bom’s real situation is! It’s impossible for her to have no control over her ads, her social media, and she never makes any statements, but she’s in poor health. What could be ailing her? Seriously, if she has depression or anxiety, why doesn’t the company do something for her to get some kind of treatment outside of Korea? Everything involving Bom is strange and misinformed because she doesn’t say anything! Not even to her fans, and we know it’s not her fault.”
@wtrmlns.pb: “Oh, people are flying across countries just to see you. But you don’t care for us (your fans) the same anymore. :( I will always wish you better health, Bommie. But I hope we at least hear from you on why you’re skipping the schedules. A lot of us are admiring you, miles away, islands away, countries away. I’m thankful you agreed to the tour, but all these post-tour shows you’re missing just break our hearts.”
@lj114p: “Not even a statement about this health concern is really concerning. I think we all deserve an explanation and not just another ‘health concern’ excuse.”
@hellofiddle20: “Bom, please just retire if you’re no longer interested in being active or being a part of 2NE1. Your fans will understand and respect your decision. What’s not okay is giving your fans—and those who spent their hard-earned money to see you—nothing but last-minute cancellations. It’s extremely unfair to everyone. I love you, but this really has to stop.”
Some fans still showed empathy toward Bom’s health, speculating that she might be dealing with anxiety or mental health issues. But they demand honesty and earlier communication from D-Nation. Most fans aren’t asking for detailed medical information—they just want human, respectful communication that acknowledges their long-standing loyalty.
Making things more confusing was the fact that Park Bom remained active on social media even after pulling out of performances. Some fans questioned whether she was truly unwell. If she was, why not take a proper break to fully recover? Is her agency forcing her to return too quickly? These questions continue to swirl, further eroding trust in her management.
Others pointed to lingering rumors about Park Bom—from drastic physical changes, use of heavy filters, dating rumors, to her fluctuating weight. But beyond the speculation, fans universally agreed on one thing: what’s needed now is clarity and empathy, not last-minute cancellations followed by silence.
Park Bom had previously appeared at Waterbomb Seoul 2025 in early July and was warmly welcomed by fans eager to see 2NE1 reunite. Her performance of “Crazy in Love” even went viral, fueling hopes of a full-fledged comeback. Sadly, those hopes have now been dashed once again.
Alongside Park Bom, two other artists were also announced to have canceled their Waterbomb Busan appearances due to health concerns: Kwon Eun-bi and I.M of Monsta X. Eun-bi, who had wowed audiences at Waterbomb Seoul, was said to still be recovering and needed extended rest. I.M reportedly suffered a back injury and is now undergoing treatment. However, in both cases, their cancellations were announced earlier and came with more specific medical context—unlike Park Bom’s, which many felt was vague and unprofessional.
Now, all eyes are on 2NE1’s upcoming schedule, including their next appearance at the halftime concert of the Coupang Play Series match between Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United on August 3 at Seoul World Cup Stadium. 2NE1 is also set to appear at Waterbomb Bali 2025 in September. But after two abrupt cancellations, Bom’s attendance is in serious doubt.
Many fans hope she’ll be given adequate time to rest—and if she’s not ready to perform, they expect the agency to be honest and decisive for the sake of her well-being and their trust. Some even suggest that Bom should take a hiatus rather than being repeatedly scheduled for big events only to back out at the last minute.
Amid all the anger and disappointment, one thing remains unchanged: the love and concern fans have for Park Bom. But that love comes with expectations—expectations for better communication, wiser decisions, and more humane treatment from the agency toward the artist they’ve supported unconditionally for years.
